Established in 1950, Nichicon Corporation got its start as a maker of aluminum electrolytic capacitors. Today, the company manufactures a wide range of circuit products and electronics components. The Kyoto-based brand operates manufacturing facilities in China, Japan, and Malaysia and has a global workforce of over 5,400 employees.
For the last 70 years, the brand has significantly expanded its component catalog. The firm’s current offerings include plastic film and tantalum electrolytic capacitors, lithium-ion rechargeable batteries, power storage systems, switches, medical and academic accelerator power sources, positive thermistors, and hybrid and electric vehicle quick charger systems.
Nichicon primarily serves companies operating in the automotive, industrial, IT, power supply and lighting, and telecom markets.
Decades ago, the manufacturer worked to introduce state-of-the-art electronic devices to its home country. Currently, the firm upholds that legacy by consistently developing cutting-edge products that are friendly to the environment and society.
Nichicon recently expanded its range of heat resistant capacitors with the GYD series. The company made the components using conductive polymers and electrolytic solutions. As such, the line provides high ripple count and low ESR while also delivering low leakage current. With a guaranteed temperature rating of 150°C, the product can withstand the rigors of the automotive and industrial sectors.
The firm also recently launched the ESS-H2L1 hybrid solar energy storage system. The self-sufficiency solution has a robust storage capacity of 12kWh and an output rating of 5.9kW. Accordingly, it can provide a family home for up to 23 hours of energy in the event of a power outage. Best of all, Nichicon made the platform compatible with solar panels regardless of their manufacturer.
